New Defense Contracts Bolster BEL
Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a leading Navratna defence public sector undertaking, announced on Thursday it has secured additional orders worth ₹596 crore. These new contracts were received since its last disclosure on January 1.
The significant order book additions include vital drone detection and jamming systems, mobile communication terminals, sophisticated software solutions, upgrades, spares, and related services. This influx of business reinforces BEL's crucial role in supplying advanced technology to India's defense forces and strengthens its position in the competitive defense electronics market.
Financial Performance Snapshot
This order win follows a period of positive financial results. For the second quarter, BEL reported revenue growth of 26% year-on-year, reaching ₹5,764 crore from ₹4,583 crore in the same period last year. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) also saw a 22% increase.
However, the EBITDA margin narrowed slightly to 29.42% from 30.30% year-on-year. Despite these operational gains, Bharat Electronics Ltd shares closed marginally down on the BSE, trading at ₹415.65, a decrease of 0.01%.
