Landmark Battery Storage Deal Secured
Power Mech Projects Ltd announced on Thursday that its wholly-owned subsidiary, PM Green Private Ltd, has received a significant ₹3,126 crore order from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (WBSEDCL). The contract is for setting up a 250 MW / 1,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Goaltore in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal.
Build-Own-Operate Model Encompasses Full Scope
The order, awarded under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, comes with a 100% off-take guarantee from WBSEDCL. Furthermore, a substantial greenshoe option of 250 MW/1,000 MWh is included for the Durgapur Project Ltd (DPL) campus. The scope of work for PM Green covers design, finance, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of the BESS facilities. Project commissioning is scheduled within 18 months of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) signing, followed by an 180-month operation and maintenance period.
Company Performance and Market Reaction
This major order follows a period of strong financial results for Power Mech Projects. The company reported an 11.7% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹74.92 crore for the quarter ended September 2025. Revenue climbed 19.5% to ₹1,237.8 crore during the same period. Despite the positive news, shares of Power Mech Projects Ltd closed down 1.84% at ₹2,353.00 on the BSE.
