Two-Wheeler Sales Cross 2 Crore Mark
India's two-wheeler market has surpassed a significant milestone, with sales reaching over two crore units in 2025. This represents a robust 5% increase compared to the 1.9 crore units sold in 2024. However, the volumes remain below the all-time high recorded in 2018, when 2.1 crore units were dispatched.
Exports Reach Record Highs
Exports played a crucial role in the sector's performance, soaring by 24.2% to an unprecedented 49.4 lakh units in 2025. This surge was bolstered by a recovery in African markets, sustained demand from South Asia, and a general uplift in global motorcycle sales.
Key Player Performance
Hero MotoCorp continued its dominance, reporting a 2% rise in sales to 57.5 lakh units for the year. TVS Motor Company emerged as the fastest grower, witnessing a substantial 15.7% increase in sales, reaching 39.8 lakh units. This growth indicates shifting market dynamics and competitive intensity.
Demand Drivers and Outlook
Siam attributes the domestic sales improvement to a combination of factors including Goods and Services Tax (GST) adjustments, income tax relief, and central bank repo rate cuts. These measures enhanced affordability and stimulated household spending. Urban markets, in particular, saw stronger growth, with scooters outpacing motorcycles. Looking ahead, Siam anticipates this positive trend to continue into 2026, supported by stable macroeconomic conditions, ongoing affordability improvements, and policy continuity.
