Samsung projects a "positive and bright" business outlook for India in 2026, citing improved consumer spending and an accelerated Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy. JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, indicated that AI will be integrated across key product segments, including washing machines, refrigerators, other appliances, and premium mobile devices.
AI Integration Accelerates
Samsung is heavily investing in R&D for its AI ecosystem at its India-based centers, which contribute to global product development. According to Park, approximately 400 million mobile devices currently feature AI capabilities, with an expectation to reach 800 million globally by year-end. Starting in 2026, all Samsung home appliances will be Wi-Fi enabled, facilitating connectivity and control via smartphones or smart TVs. Premium refrigerators and washing machines will also feature 9-inch screens.
India as a Growth Hub
The company recently achieved a milestone by crossing Rs 1 lakh crore in sales in India within the appliances and consumer electronics sectors. Park noted a discernible shift in consumer sentiment, with individuals becoming more willing to spend. He described the economy as moving in a "much more positive way" compared to the previous year, with government initiatives like GST revisions providing crucial support.
Future Innovations
New flagship products with embedded AI features are slated for launch in February, following the CES 2026 event. Samsung's AI strategy is supported by its consumer electronics R&D in Delhi and mobile R&D centers in Noida and Bengaluru. The company is actively transforming its engineering workforce into AI-centric professionals, leveraging India's vast pool of engineering talent, which includes over 10,000 engineers plus an additional 4,000 in the semiconductor architecture team in Bengaluru. This expansion of engineering resources in India is expected to continue.
