चेन्नईतील कस्टम्सचे संयुक्त आयुक्त (Joint Commissioner of Customs) यांनी Apollo Tyres ला ₹14.34 लाख रुपयांचा दंड ठोठावला आहे. काही वस्तूंसाठी Harmonized System of Nomenclature (HSN) वर्गीकरणात झालेल्या वादामुळे ही कारवाई करण्यात आली आहे.

मात्र, कंपनीने याबद्दल स्पष्टीकरण दिले आहे की, या दंडाचा त्यांच्या कामकाजावर कोणताही मोठा आर्थिक परिणाम (Material Financial Impact) होणार नाही. Apollo Tyres ने हे देखील सांगितले की, ते या निर्णयाविरोधात अपील प्राधिकरणाकडे (Appellate Authority) अपील दाखल करतील.

आर्थिक वर्ष २०२५ (FY25) मध्ये ₹25,177 कोटींचा एकत्रित महसूल आणि आर्थिक वर्ष २०२४ (FY24) मध्ये ₹1,635 कोटींचा नेट प्रॉफिट (Net Profit) असलेल्या Apollo Tyres साठी ₹14.34 लाखांचा दंड तुलनेने खूपच कमी आहे. तरीही, अशा प्रकारचे वाद सेक्टरमध्ये अनुपालन (Compliance) तपासणीकडे लक्ष वेधतात. CEAT Ltd आणि MRF Ltd सारखे प्रतिस्पर्धक देखील अशाच कस्टम्स आणि व्यापार वर्गीकरण नियमांनुसार काम करतात.
