Toh scene yeh hai ki National Green Tribunal (NGT) ne Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) ko ₹1 Crore ki environmental compensation Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) ko dene ko kaha hai. Yeh penalty isliye lagi kyunki BPCL ne apne 41 storage locations par Vapour Recovery Systems (VRS) lagane ki deadline, jo ki March 2024 thi, usse miss kar diya tha.
Lekin BPCL ne yeh bhi clarify kiya hai ki saare 41 sites par VRS ka installation March 2025 tak poora ho gaya hai. Aur company ka kehna hai ki is development ka unke financials par koi 'material impact' nahi padega. Matlab, paison ke hisaab se koi badi gadbad nahi hone wali.
VRS systems actually hawa ko saaf rakhne aur fuel storage se hone wale volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions ko control karne ke liye bahut important hote hain. Pehle oil marketing companies (OMCs) jaise BPCL ke liye March 2020 ki deadline thi, jise baad mein badha kar March 2024 kar diya gaya tha, logistics aur challenges ke karan.
Ab jab BPCL ne saare sites par compliance poori kar li hai, toh yeh issue resolve ho gaya hai. Industry mein peers jaise Indian Oil (IOCL) aur HPCL bhi aise hi directives follow kar rahe hain emission control ke liye.
