Shiva Mills Names New Senior GM as General Manager Departs

Shiva Mills Limited has announced a significant leadership transition. The company confirmed the resignation of its General Manager, Sri V A Om Prakash Babu, effective March 31, 2026.

Following his departure, Sri P Solairaj has been appointed as the new Senior General Manager, effective April 1, 2026. Mr. Solairaj brings a substantial background to the role, with 32 years of experience in the textile industry.

Shiva Mills, incorporated in 2015, operates primarily in the cotton yarn manufacturing sector. The company's facilities include a spinning unit with 39,072 spindles and 22 windmills that generate 10.65 MW of power for captive use. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024 (FY24), Shiva Mills reported revenues of ₹159 Crore.

However, the company has faced financial challenges. Shiva Mills reported a loss of ₹0.71 crore for the fourth consecutive quarter ending December 2025 and has recorded negative Return on Equity (ROE) for three consecutive years. Further, the average tenure of its management team stands at 1.8 years, in contrast to its experienced board.

These management changes could signal strategic shifts. Mr. Solairaj's extensive experience may introduce fresh perspectives and operational expertise. Nevertheless, such transitions naturally involve an adjustment period. Investors will be closely watching how the new leadership addresses the company's ongoing financial challenges and pursues strategic objectives. Key risks include potential short-term operational disruptions, the company's persistent losses, and concerns regarding leadership stability due to the short management tenure.

Shiva Mills operates within the competitive Indian textile industry, competing with major players such as KPR Mill Ltd., Trident Ltd., and Vardhman Textiles Ltd. These peers often feature diversified operations and robust financial performance. KPR Mill integrates yarn to garment production, Trident is a global exporter of home textiles, and Vardhman Textiles is known for its yarn and fabric business. The management change at Shiva Mills occurs as these competitors are focused on growth, innovation, and expanding market share.
