Futura Polyesters Posts ₹12.76 Crore Loss; Clears ₹243.45 Crore OTS

Futura Polyesters Ltd reported a ₹12.76 crore loss for the quarter ended December 2024 and a ₹29.82 crore loss for the nine-month period. The company, whose manufacturing operations ceased in 2012, also disclosed that it completed a ₹243.45 crore one-time settlement with lenders in June 2025. However, delayed financial filings, fully eroded net worth and the auditor's qualified conclusion remain major issues for shareholders.

Futura Polyesters Clears ₹243.45 Crore Debt Settlement Amid Continuing Losses

Futura Polyesters Ltd reported a ₹12.76 crore loss for the quarter ended December 31, 2024.

The company completed a ₹243.45 crore one-time settlement with its lenders on June 23, 2025.

Reader Takeaway: Debt settlement is a positive step, but losses, eroded net worth and audit qualifications remain serious pressures.

What just happened

Futura Polyesters has submitted pending financial information as it works through a backlog of delayed results and seeks progress toward lifting the trading suspension on its shares.

For the quarter ended December 31, 2024, the company reported a loss of ₹12.76 crore. After other comprehensive loss of ₹0.38 crore, total comprehensive loss stood at ₹13.14 crore.

For the nine months ended December 31, 2024, the loss reached ₹29.82 crore, while total comprehensive loss was ₹30.95 crore.

Management attributed the delayed submissions to major administrative difficulties and a severe shortage of staff across finance, accounting and compliance functions.

Why this matters

The financial results relate entirely to discontinued operations. Futura Polyesters stopped manufacturing polyester products on December 19, 2012, meaning the filing does not signal a revival of its historical manufacturing business.

The more consequential development is the lender settlement. In March 2025, lenders accepted the company's one-time settlement proposal for outstanding dues. Futura Polyesters subsequently paid ₹243.45 crore to the consortium on June 23, 2025 and obtained No Due Certificates from all lenders.

That removes the dues covered by the settlement, but it does not by itself resolve the broader questions around the company's financial viability or compliance position.

Risks to watch

Statutory auditor V. S. Somani & Co. issued a qualified conclusion. One qualification concerns the company's non-recognition of finance costs on borrowings above 14.25% per annum and penal interest charged by banks.

The auditor also highlighted continuing losses, complete erosion of net worth and delays in debt servicing as conditions creating material uncertainty over Futura Polyesters' ability to continue as a going concern. The financial results were nevertheless prepared on a going-concern basis.

These qualifications are material for investors because they affect how the reported financial position should be assessed.

What to track next

The immediate focus is on whether Futura Polyesters can clear its remaining financial-reporting and compliance backlog and complete the process required for lifting the trading suspension.

Shareholders should also watch subsequent financial statements for the accounting impact of the ₹243.45 crore settlement, the status of outstanding finance-cost provisions and any concrete development concerning future business operations.
