India's Largest Heavy EV Charging Hub Launched
Energy in Motion (EIM), an associate of Ravindra Energy, has commenced commercial operations for what is claimed to be India's largest battery swapping and charging station dedicated to heavy electric vehicles (EVs). The state-of-the-art facility is strategically located at the Nhava Sheva Freeport Container Terminal (NSFT), aiming to enhance sustainable mobility and clean logistics within the port.
The station boasts a significant 3 MW power capacity, designed to service over 160 heavy EVs daily. Already, more than 130 EIM-Foton EVs operating at the port are utilising the new service. This launch marks a significant step for EIM in developing EV infrastructure for India's logistics sector and supports the nation's push for cleaner transportation.
Ravindra Energy, historically focused on solar EPC projects and solar irrigation pumps, is diversifying into electric mobility via its associate EIM. EIM, in which Ravindra Energy holds a 49.5% stake, holds exclusive rights to assemble and market FOTON's electric heavy-duty commercial vehicles in India, with commercial rollouts planned from Q2 FY2025-26. EIM has previously supplied Foton 'Ashwa' e-tractors for port logistics at Kandla Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPA).
Challenges remain in scaling up infrastructure and fleet adoption. Ravindra Energy's growth in the EV segment relies heavily on its associate EIM, with NSFT's planned fleet electrification by FY 2026-27 serving as an important benchmark.
This development places EIM alongside other major players in India's evolving EV charging sector, such as ABB India's heavy-duty chargers, Tata Power's extensive EZ Charge network, and Jio-bp Pulse's expanding high-speed infrastructure.
EIM commenced commercial operations on August 1, 2025. The company plans to electrify NSFT's vehicle fleet by the end of FY 2026-27.
