Bharti Airtel is significantly broadening its 5G service across Uttar Pradesh East. In the last 12 months alone, the company has deployed over 4300 new 5G sites. This rapid build-out now extends to 48 districts, bringing high-speed connectivity to an additional 34 million people in the region.

Alongside the network expansion, Bharti Airtel has introduced a new unlimited 5G and 4G data and voice plan priced at ₹399 for 28 days. This offer is designed to encourage user adoption of 5G services and increase data consumption.

This move strengthens Bharti Airtel's digital infrastructure in eastern Uttar Pradesh. It aims to support the increasing demand for digital services from individuals, students, and businesses, enhancing the experience for streaming, online work, and digital transactions.

The expansion is part of Bharti Airtel's nationwide 5G rollout strategy, backed by substantial investment in network infrastructure. By March 2025, the company reported having 135 million 5G customers across India. This growth is fueled by the high adoption of 5G-capable devices. Airtel's strategy involves premiumizing its offerings and increasing Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), often by guiding users towards 5G upgrades and post-paid plans. The company anticipates that its capital expenditure for network deployment will moderate in fiscal years 2025 and 2026 as major rollout phases conclude.

Bharti Airtel faces a competitive market. Reliance Jio has achieved nationwide 5G coverage with its Standalone architecture and leads in subscriber numbers with over 234 million 5G users. Vodafone Idea (Vi) is also expanding its 5G footprint, targeting 133 cities by May 2026. Despite Jio's scale, Bharti Airtel often achieves a higher ARPU, around ₹259 compared to Jio's roughly ₹213–214, highlighting its focus on value and premium services.

The telecom sector remains intensely competitive, with rivals also investing heavily in 5G. Bharti Airtel will need continued capital expenditure for network densification and future technology upgrades, which will affect free cash flow. The company also faces ongoing regulatory oversight. Investors will watch subscriber growth and data consumption in Uttar Pradesh East, competitive responses from rivals in the region, and Bharti Airtel's overall ARPU trends and further infrastructure investments, such as in its Nxtra data center business.
