What just happened

Websol Energy System Limited has appointed Mr. Vinay Vyas as the Chief Executive Officer of its wholly owned subsidiary, Websol Renewables Private Limited, effective October 21, 2026. Mr. Vyas brings over 18 years of experience in the renewable energy and storage sector, having previously held senior leadership roles at FusionX Energy, Welspun Group, and Canadian Solar. He also served as the chair of the Energy Storage Committee at the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI).

Why this matters

The appointment is part of a broader strategic move to scale the company’s solar value chain business. Websol is currently transitioning from its existing integrated facility at the Falta Special Economic Zone—which features 1,200 MW of solar cell capacity and 550 MW of module capacity—toward a much larger scale. The board expects Mr. Vyas to leverage his background in BESS, green hydrogen, and renewable power to drive this expansion.

Corporate Growth and Outlook

Following a strong performance in FY26, where the company surpassed ₹1,000 crore in revenue, Websol has set ambitious infrastructure goals. The company aims to reach a manufacturing capacity of 5,350 MW for solar cells and 4,550 MW for modules by 2028. This growth strategy involves utilizing advanced Mono PERC and bifacial technologies to compete effectively in the domestic solar market.

What to track next

Investors should focus on the commissioning timeline for the expanded manufacturing units. The core monitorable remains whether the company can maintain its current revenue momentum while navigating the capital-intensive nature of scaling capacity nearly fivefold over the next two years.
