WeWork India Expands Pune Capacity
WeWork India is expanding its presence in Pune by leasing an additional 61,998 square feet. This significant investment of ₹36 crore is set to add approximately 864 desks to its operational capacity. The new space is tentatively scheduled for completion by August 2026.
As of December 31, 2025, WeWork India reported an existing capacity of 1,21,638 desks, with a utilization rate of 83.90%.
This expansion signals WeWork India's confidence in the growing demand for flexible workspaces within major Indian cities like Pune. The move aims to strengthen the company's market position and cater to an increasing client base, particularly enterprises seeking scalable office solutions.
WeWork India, the local operation of the global co-working provider, has been pursuing a growth strategy. The company offers a variety of flexible office solutions, from individual desks to fully managed offices, serving a diverse clientele that includes startups, SMEs, and large corporations across key Indian metros. Recent years have seen aggressive network expansion, with new centers opening in cities such as Bangalore and Mumbai, often with an increased focus on enterprise clients.
The addition of new workspace capacity in Pune is expected to allow WeWork India to attract more clients and potentially improve revenue streams. It also reinforces the company's presence in a significant commercial hub, complementing its existing network. If demand continues to grow robustly, higher utilization rates are anticipated.
A key factor to monitor is the project's completion timeline. The August 2026 date is marked as tentative, leaving room for potential delays that could affect the realization of expected benefits.
The Indian co-working market is competitive, with players like Awfis Space Solutions actively expanding their operations. Awfis, a publicly listed entity, has consistently reported growth in its network and revenue, indicating strong market demand but also highlighting the need for efficient execution and cost management. WeWork India's expansion aligns with this broader industry trend of capacity enhancement to meet evolving business needs.
