WeWork India Expands Footprint Significantly
WeWork India has announced a major expansion, adding over 700,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office space across five new centers. This significant growth will introduce approximately 12,000 new desks to its portfolio, reinforcing its leadership in the Indian market.
The expansion is strategically located in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, key technology and business hubs. This move signals continued confidence in India's flexible workspace sector and WeWork India's capacity to meet robust enterprise demand. It significantly strengthens the company's presence in prime South Indian markets.
WeWork India has focused on consolidating its market position by heavily catering to large enterprises, which now constitute nearly 74% of its member base. While WeWork globally has navigated financial challenges and restructuring, the Indian operation has pursued its growth strategy, supported by investment secured in late 2023.
The Indian flexible workspace sector is experiencing a strong resurgence post-pandemic. Corporations are increasingly seeking agile and adaptable office solutions, driving demand for flexible space providers.
This expansion enhances WeWork India's offering for enterprise clients seeking premium workspace solutions. The company has also strengthened partnerships with leading landlords, entering into long-term commitments that typically range from 10 to 20 years.
Competition in the Indian flexible workspace market remains intense, with established players like Awfis and Smartworks aggressively expanding. CoWrks is another notable competitor in the premium flexible office segment.
As of December 2025, WeWork India operated 73 centers across 8 cities, covering 8.2 million sq. ft. Moving forward, key metrics to monitor will include occupancy rates and revenue generation from the newly added centers, alongside performance benchmarks against competitors.
