EIM and Drivn Partner for 1,000 Electric Trucks in India

Ravindra Energy's associate, Energy in Motion (EIM), has partnered with EV leasing platform Drivn to deploy 1,000 electric heavy-duty commercial vehicles across India over the next two years. Drivn will be supported by an $80 million commitment from Nomura for this initiative, according to an announcement made on April 20, 2026.

The collaboration combines EIM's expertise in EV manufacturing and battery-swapping technology with Drivn's financing and operational leasing capabilities. Together, they aim to simplify electric truck adoption for fleet operators by offering integrated vehicle supply, financing, and lifecycle support.

This venture is designed to improve access and reduce entry barriers for businesses transitioning to electric heavy-duty trucks, marking a potential significant step toward decarbonizing India's large commercial transport sector.

Ravindra Energy entered the EV market through its associate venture, EIM, which began commercial operations on August 1, 2025. As of April 2026, Ravindra Energy holds a 49.5% shareholding in EIM.

The partnership signals an expansion into the heavy-duty electric commercial vehicle segment for both EIM and Ravindra Energy. It holds potential for significant order book growth for EIM's manufacturing capabilities and demonstrates a viable model for electric truck adoption.

The move positions EIM within a competitive landscape that includes established EV truck manufacturers like Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland, alongside EV leasing and financing platforms such as Zypp Electric and Bounce Infinity, which typically focus on lighter vehicles. EIM's emphasis on battery swapping technology also places it in relation to companies like Exponent Energy.
