RailTel Secures ₹255 Crore Railway Tunnel Tech Deal
RailTel Corporation announced it has received a significant Letter of Acceptance (LoA) worth ₹255.27 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). The order covers the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Integrated Tunnel Communication Systems, which include VHF Simplex, CCTV, and Public Address (PA) systems, along with Emergency Call Points. These systems will be deployed across four stations over a 36-kilometer section, with the project deadline set for April 12, 2028.
This new contract significantly boosts RailTel's order book, providing crucial revenue visibility over the coming years. It also reinforces the company's standing as a key provider of advanced telecommunication and digital infrastructure, supporting Indian Railways' modernization initiatives.
As a Miniratna Category-I Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), RailTel operates one of India's largest neutral telecom networks, supported by a vast pan-India optic fiber footprint. The company has consistently focused on modernizing railway communication infrastructure. This latest award continues its successful partnerships with entities like RVNL, leveraging its expertise in digital and communication systems for major railway projects.
The extended execution timeline until April 2028 means sustained project management and resource allocation will be key for RailTel. Investors and stakeholders will be tracking the formal commencement of work, adherence to initial milestones, and the company's progress reporting on this long-term project. The award also positions RailTel for potential future contracts as Indian Railways continues its technological upgrades, with subsequent financial results expected to show the order's contribution.
In the railway infrastructure and communication technology sector, RailTel's peers include Ircon International Ltd. and RITES Ltd., which focus on broader construction, project management, and consultancy. While RailTel specializes in telecom and digital systems, companies like Siemens India and ABB India may compete on specific technology components within larger projects.
