Premier Energies Launches India's First All-Black TOPCon Solar Module
Premier Energies Ltd has launched its NeoBlack Series, marking India's first all-black G12R DCR solar module powered by advanced TOPCon cell technology. Unveiled at RenewX Chennai, the module offers a power range of 600 Wp to 630 Wp and includes a 12-year product warranty alongside a 30-year power output warranty.
This development caters to a growing demand for solar solutions that combine high performance with sophisticated aesthetics, especially for residential and premium commercial properties. The module's uniform black finish is designed for seamless integration into modern architectural designs, appealing to customers who want solar power without compromising their building's appearance. The launch also aligns with government initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at boosting rooftop solar adoption.
Premier Energies is a seasoned integrated solar manufacturer with three decades of experience. The company has significantly expanded its production capabilities, recently commissioning a 5.6 GW solar module facility in Telangana that focuses on TOPCon technology. This expansion is part of a broader INR 12,500 crore capital expenditure plan to enhance integrated manufacturing across its value chain.
The NeoBlack Series enhances Premier Energies' product portfolio by introducing a premium, design-centric option. This move solidifies the company's presence in the residential rooftop and premium commercial market segments, underscoring its commitment to innovation in both technology and aesthetics.
Separately, Premier Energies faced penalties totaling ₹3.4 lakh from the Registrar of Companies, Telangana, for failing to transfer shares in dematerialized form as required by corporate regulations.
The NeoBlack Series enters a competitive market where peers also offer advanced TOPCon modules with strong performance and warranties. For instance, Adani Solar provides TOPCon modules (Shine series) up to 660W with 30-year performance warranties. Waaree Energies offers a range of TOPCon and HJT modules, also with up to 30-year performance warranties. Vikram Solar's N-Type Hypersol modules achieve up to 23.51% efficiency with 30-year performance warranties, and Gautam Solar offers G12 R TOPCon modules with up to 23.69% efficiency and 620-640 Wp output. While these competitors focus on high efficiency, Premier's uniform 'all-black' aesthetic could serve as a key differentiator in the premium segment.
Premier Energies operates with a total solar module production capacity of 11.1 GW as of March 2026. The company has also secured orders worth INR 1,460 crore for solar modules and cells, with supply expected to commence in May 2025.
Future tracking will focus on market adoption and sales performance for the NeoBlack Series, particularly within the residential and premium commercial sectors. Investors will also monitor competitor responses to Premier's aesthetic innovations, the module's impact on uptake under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, the utilization of its expanded manufacturing facilities, and the overall financial contribution from these new product sales.
