Hindalco Q2 FY27 Profit Jumps 59% to Rs 7,533 Crore Record

Hindalco Industries reported its strongest-ever quarterly performance for Q2 FY27, with consolidated PAT surging 59% YoY to Rs 7,533 crore. Revenue climbed 39% to Rs 91,708 crore, bolstered by robust performances across its Copper and Aluminium Upstream segments. While the company's diversified business model provides a buffer against LME price volatility, investors should track the rising Net Debt to EBITDA ratio and the upcoming commissioning of the Bay Minette facility.

Hindalco Industries Reports Record Q2 FY27 Performance

Consolidated PAT reached Rs 7,533 crore; Consolidated Revenue climbed to Rs 91,708 crore.

Reader Takeaway: Record earnings reflect balanced upstream and downstream performance, though rising leverage ratios remain a monitoring point.

What just happened

Hindalco Industries has posted its highest-ever quarterly earnings for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company’s consolidated net profit surged 59% to Rs 7,533 crore, compared to Rs 4,741 crore in the year-ago period. Total revenue grew by 39% to Rs 91,708 crore, highlighting strong demand and favorable operational conditions across core segments.

Why this matters

The company’s strategy to diversify its revenue streams is showing results. Non-LME-linked businesses, including Novelis, Copper, and Aluminium Downstream, now account for nearly 50% of earnings. This integration provides a significant cushion against global price fluctuations in the London Metal Exchange (LME). The Copper segment, in particular, delivered a massive 164% YoY EBITDA growth, reaching a record Rs 1,673 crore.

Operational Highlights

Aluminium Upstream saw EBITDA jump 55% to Rs 7,009 crore with healthy margins of 52%. Novelis reported an adjusted EBITDA of $508 million, up 20% YoY, as production levels at its Oswego plant normalized. The firm is also accelerating its green energy transition, having added a 65 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project at Aditya Aluminium, taking its total renewable portfolio to 643 MW.

Risks to watch

Investors should keep a close eye on the company's balance sheet. Consolidated Net Debt to EBITDA rose to 1.80x as of September 30, 2026, up from 1.23x in the same period last year. This increase is largely tied to ongoing significant capital expenditure programs. The execution and ramp-up of the Bay Minette facility, with commercial shipments expected by Q1 FY28, will be critical to long-term valuation.

What to track next

Watch for the progress of the Aditya Smelter Phase 2 project, which remains on track for metal production in FY28. Management’s commentary on leverage management in upcoming investor calls will also be a key factor for shareholders.
