Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) is set to see a leadership transition in its Ports division. Niraj Bansal has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Ports, effective June 1, 2026. He will succeed Pranav Choudhary, whose last day in the role will be May 31, 2026. Choudhary is reportedly leaving to pursue opportunities outside the Adani Group.
Bansal brings a wealth of experience from his career as a former IRS officer and his tenure at major public ports. He previously served as Deputy Chairman and Chairman-in-charge at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), providing him with deep knowledge of large-scale port operations.
The Ports division is fundamental to APSEZ, overseeing 14 ports and terminals across India. This segment handles diverse cargo and is the primary driver of the company's business and growth. A smooth handover is vital for continuity in strategy and operations within the competitive port infrastructure market.
As India's largest private multi-port operator, APSEZ manages a substantial portion of the nation's cargo volume. The company has been actively expanding its port network and developing integrated logistics hubs through acquisitions and organic growth.
Under Bansal's leadership, APSEZ will likely focus on leveraging his public port expertise to enhance operational efficiency and cargo throughput. The company will continue to drive growth and execute its ongoing expansion projects.
