Consolidated revenue for Q4 FY26 grew 16.2% year-on-year to ₹75,870 million. EBITDA for the quarter increased by 20.2% to ₹25,544 million, with margins steady at 33.7%.

For the full fiscal year FY26, revenue rose 16.8% to ₹2,71,484 million. EBITDA for the year was up 20.1% to ₹84,751 million, contributing to a net profit of ₹54,564 million, a 15% rise year-on-year. The FY26 EBITDA margin was 31.2%.

Alongside these results, the Board of Directors approved a share buyback program of up to ₹11,000 million and recommended a dividend of 100% for FY2025-26.

Key Business Drivers and Strategic Moves

The company's performance was driven by strong results in its key segments. The Consumer Wellness business showed significant momentum, with Q4 FY26 revenue jumping 61.1% year-on-year, boosted by both domestic and international sales. The India Formulations segment also saw positive growth, contributing a 14% year-on-year revenue increase for the quarter.

Strategically, Zydus announced the acquisition of US-based Assertio Holdings, Inc. for US$166 million. This move is expected to significantly expand Zydus's specialty business in the important US market. The company is also enhancing its product offerings with new launches, including biosimilar products Tishtha™ (Nivolumab) and Anyra™ (Aflibercept), and Semaglutide injection brands.

About Zydus Lifesciences

Zydus Lifesciences is a global pharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, manufacturing, and marketing a broad range of healthcare therapies. Its business includes formulations, consumer wellness, and animal health, with a strong presence in India, the United States, and emerging markets. The company has a history of strategic acquisitions to grow its international reach and product offerings, including previous entries into the US generics market.

Impact on Business and Shareholders

The approved share buyback is anticipated to boost earnings per share (EPS) and provide direct returns to shareholders, alongside the recommended dividend. The acquisition of Assertio Holdings is poised to significantly enhance Zydus's standing in the US specialty pharmaceutical sector. Furthermore, new biosimilar and Semaglutide product launches will broaden the company's branded portfolio. Zydus will integrate Assertio's financial performance and continue to manage expenses, including one-time costs from litigation settlements.

Key Risks and Considerations

The company reported exceptional expenses in Q4 FY26, including ₹3,975 million for the settlement of Mirabegron litigation, which affected reported profits for the quarter. Pharmaceutical companies operating in regulated markets like the US also face ongoing risks such as pricing pressures, changing regulatory environments, and patent challenges.

Competitive Landscape

Zydus Lifesciences competes with other major pharmaceutical firms like Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and Cipla. These companies operate in similar areas, focusing on generics, formulations, and specialty products, and frequently pursue acquisitions and R&D investments to maintain their competitive edge in global markets, especially the US.

Looking Ahead

Investors will be monitoring details from the upcoming earnings call on May 19, 2026, for management's outlook. Key developments to watch include the progress and completion of the Assertio Holdings, Inc. acquisition, the performance of recently launched products such as Tishtha™, Anyra™, and Semaglutide brands, and Zydus's strategy for integrating the newly acquired US assets to drive future growth.
