SJVN Ltd has appointed Suprakash Adhikari, currently Director (Technical) at NHPC Limited, to serve as Director (Projects) on an additional charge basis. Adhikari brings over 36 years of extensive experience in the hydropower sector, focusing on project implementation and commissioning.

This appointment aims to leverage his deep expertise to accelerate SJVN's current and future projects, which are vital for its expansion goals and drive towards Net Zero carbon emissions. Adhikari has a notable track record, including his involvement in commissioning major projects like the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydro project, the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower HE project, and the 300 MW Bikaner Solar project.

The announcement, however, noted significant inconsistencies regarding the effective date of the additional charge and the assumption of duties. Adhikari's tenure for this additional role is slated to start August 1, 2025, with a planned assumption of charge on May 12, 2026. This appointment follows the conclusion of the prior Director (Projects), Sushil Sharma's tenure on July 31, 2025.

SJVN, a key player in India's power sector, is actively expanding its hydroelectric and renewable energy capacities. Adhikari's leadership is expected to strengthen project development and execution, potentially integrating best practices from NHPC. The resolution of the stated date discrepancies will be key for administrative clarity.
