Adani Green Energy to Launch 292 MW Khavda Solar Project
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has decided to bring a 292 MW solar power project online in Khavda, Gujarat. The project, operated by its subsidiary Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A Limited, is scheduled to become operational by April 22, 2026, with power generation starting the next day, April 23, 2026.
This development adds 292 MW to AGEL's renewable energy portfolio. Once operational, the company's total installed renewable generation capacity will rise to 19,585.8 MW. Its operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity will also grow to 1,376 MWh. The expansion reflects AGEL's sustained commitment to growing its renewable energy footprint in India.
The move underscores AGEL's aggressive expansion strategy and its progress toward ambitious capacity targets. This growth solidifies its role in India's clean energy transition, with the enhanced BESS capacity supporting grid stability and renewable energy integration.
AGEL is a key player in India's renewable energy expansion, developing major solar parks like the Khavda Renewable Energy Zone. The company's rapid project execution and expansion are central to the Adani Group's broader clean energy goals.
A key challenge for AGEL remains meeting aggressive timelines for project operationalization as part of its ambitious growth plans.
AGEL's total operational capacity of 19,585.8 MW places it among India's largest renewable energy developers, alongside peers like Tata Power, NTPC, and JSW Energy, who are also expanding their renewable portfolios.
Investors will be tracking the project's actual commissioning by April 2026, AGEL's progress on other Khavda REZ projects, and future announcements on capacity additions. Monitoring the performance of the new project and broader trends in India's renewable energy sector will also be key.
