ACME Solar Holdings Commissions 35.7 MW Battery Storage Project in Rajasthan
ACME Solar Holdings, through its subsidiary ACME Surya Power Private Limited, has commissioned a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The project adds 35.715 MW of capacity and 160.512 MWh of energy storage, boosting ACME Solar's total operational BESS capacity to 210.938 MW, comprising 947.899 MWh of energy storage.
This new facility, located in Jaimalsar village, Bikaner district, Rajasthan, was commissioned on May 11, 2026, and is scheduled for commercial operations starting May 13, 2026. The expansion is a key step in enhancing the company's energy storage capabilities.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are crucial for integrating intermittent renewable sources like solar and wind power into the grid. They help manage grid stability, balance supply and demand, and ensure a more reliable power supply. For ACME Solar, this expansion diversifies its service offering and strengthens its position in the competitive renewable energy landscape, enabling better grid support services and potentially new revenue streams.
This commissioning is part of ACME Solar's ongoing strategy to integrate storage solutions with its solar power assets, aiming to provide round-the-clock renewable energy solutions. This focus aligns with India's broader goals for grid modernization and increasing renewable energy penetration while ensuring grid stability.
With this development, ACME Solar enhances its operational asset base, improving its ability to offer stable and reliable power backed by storage. This positions the company to benefit from the increasing demand for grid-scale energy storage solutions.
However, future growth could be influenced by evolving government policies and regulations concerning energy storage and renewable energy integration. The costs associated with battery technology and its lifecycle management remain significant considerations. Furthermore, competition in the BESS segment is intensifying, requiring continuous innovation and efficient project execution to maintain market share and profitability.
ACME Solar operates in a market where major players like Adani Green Energy and Tata Power are also aggressively investing in their energy storage capacities, pursuing similar integration strategies with their solar portfolios. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, an EPC major, further illustrates the sector's growth by undertaking complex BESS projects for various developers.
Investors will be keen to track ACME Solar's future BESS project pipeline and commissioning timelines. The performance metrics of its operational BESS assets will be important indicators. Monitoring government policies and incentives related to energy storage will be crucial for assessing future growth prospects, alongside the successful execution of its integrated solar-BESS projects.
