Dhanlaxmi Bank Reports Robust Q2 Growth With Sharp NPA Reduction

Net Profit: Rs 48.55 crore (up 109% YoY); Gross NPA Ratio: 1.76% (down from 3.10% YoY).

Reader Takeaway: Exceptional profit growth and cleaner balance sheet suggest operational efficiency, but sustainability of NPA trends remains key.

What just happened

Dhanlaxmi Bank released its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The bank delivered a strong performance, with net profit more than doubling to Rs 48.55 crore compared to Rs 23.20 crore in the same quarter last year. Total income for the bank rose to Rs 518.60 crore from Rs 418.16 crore, reflecting steady top-line expansion.

Why this matters

The most significant highlight is the improvement in asset quality. The bank successfully brought down its absolute Gross NPA to Rs 281.28 crore, down from Rs 404.34 crore a year ago. Consequently, the Gross NPA ratio tightened to 1.76% from 3.10%, while the Net NPA ratio improved to 0.45% from 1.12%. This reduction indicates a more robust loan book and lower risk profile for the bank.

Segment Performance

Retail banking remains a cornerstone for the bank, contributing Rs 292.21 crore in revenue with results of Rs 41.92 crore. The Corporate/Wholesale segment generated Rs 141.85 crore in revenue with results of Rs 10.18 crore. Meanwhile, the Treasury segment reported revenue of Rs 80.75 crore for the quarter.

What to track next

Investors should watch the bank's ability to maintain these improved NPA levels in the coming quarters. Furthermore, monitoring the management of operating expenses will be crucial to sustain this growth trajectory in future fiscal periods.
