Reader Takeaway: Strong profit growth and new capacity expansion signal long-term confidence, though execution risk over 60 months remains.

What just happened

The board of Steel Strips Wheels has cleared a proposal to set up a massive greenfield manufacturing unit in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The facility will produce alloy wheels, steel wheels for Passenger Vehicles (PV) and Off-The-Road (OTR) applications, and hot stamping components. The project is scheduled for completion over the next 60 months and will be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals.

Why this matters

The new facility represents a significant leap in production capacity, targeting 2.5 million alloy wheels and 1.6 million steel wheels annually, alongside 1.3 million hot stamping strokes. This expansion is designed to capture growing demand in the auto-component space and solidify the company’s manufacturing footprint.

Financial performance

The company delivered a strong performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Consolidated revenue grew to Rs 1929.92 crore, up from Rs 1200.57 crore in the same quarter last year. Profit After Tax (PAT) surged to Rs 116.95 crore compared to Rs 35.52 crore in the prior-year period.

Corporate actions

Shareholders will receive an interim dividend of Rs 1.50 per share (face value Rs 1). The record date for this payout is October 30, 2026, with payment scheduled by November 21, 2026. Additionally, the company renewed its lease agreement with its subsidiary, AMW Autocomponent Limited, for five years at a monthly rent of Rs 45 lakhs.

Leadership changes

The company has appointed Sh. Pranav Jain as Vice-President (Finance & Accounts), effective immediately. This appointment follows the recommendation of the company's Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Risks to watch

As the company moves forward with its Rs 1400 crore project, investors should keep a close watch on debt levels and the execution timeline over the next five years to ensure that capital allocation translates effectively into bottom-line growth.
